I really love a market! At the start of the month of August, we popped to Winslow Farmers Market which is on the first Sunday of every month! The next one is this coming Sunday 4th September.
My daughter had a few coins to spend, practice some maths and enjoy playing shopping! A great way to pick up a few things, as well as make it educational.
The market vendors were really considerate and gave her a lot of time to think, explore and learn. My daughter is just about to start school, so counting is quite a big thing in our home at the moment and she’s thankfully enjoying maths.
With her coins, she chose a hand-made bow, some potatoes, a succulent plant for £2 and on the jam stall, she chose a lucky dip bag. This was a great touch from the jam seller to be kid conscious at a market. Inside there was a tattoo, toy experiment and sweet. I’m quite impressed what a few coins bought!
We then moved on to watch the market buskers play joyful tunes for a Sunday morning. We also picked up artisan bread, meat from Boarstall Farm, Oving Beef and honey. We learnt a lot by talking to the honey vendor! Did you know that the flowers and herbs that the bees enjoy actually flavour the honey? Therefore, different honey is produced at different times of the season and useful for different recipes! You probably did but it was much more interesting than going to a supermarket.
Just before we looked around the stalls, we grabbed coffee and toast at one of the cafes on the square. There are several options for refreshments, as well as a coffee stall.
A handy tip, I can recommend is to combine a visit after running off some energy at the playground right by the car park, which is free to park in. Then it is a stroll down the street to the market.
We are looking forward to visiting towards Christmas. Do share if you decide to visit.
