Have you tried a roller disco yet? Our eldest girls got roller skates for Christmas and have been around the house practicing for a few weeks. So we braved a roller disco at Campus West in Welwyn Garden City, and they were so excited!
This was nostalgic for me as I used to love roller skating in my teens, and Campus West Roller City definitely brings back those vibes. Our girls are 3 1/2 and 5 and Roller City offers sessions for all ages across all skills, which is really reassuring as a parent!
Roller City Sessions
Family Skate Sessions – We went to the Family skate session on the Sunday, which is a 90 minute for all ages. These are available on Saturdays 1pm-2.30pm, and Sundays 11.30am and 1.30pm, and it wasn’t too busy. Each session has a DJ which the girls found really fun, as they played their favourite songs.
Easy Like Sunday Morning Sessions – The venue also offer an ‘Easy like Sunday Morning’ session at an earlier time on Sunday at 9.30am-11.00am which is described as more relaxed and a calmer option, which would definitely be great for a beginner or more nervous skater.
Beginning Skate Sessions – These are designed specifically for beginners and learners and are every Saturday morning from 11am-12.30pm.
Roller Skate Disco – every Saturday afternoon from 3pm- 4.30pm for all ages and includes a vibrant atmosphere of lights and funky music.

Over 18+ Roller Disco- Friday nights from 8pm- 10.30pm there is even adult disco. A kid free zone with house DJs and a licensed bar to get those wheels rolling.
Roller City Skate hire
Roller city offers options f either bringing your own skates, or hiring some. Bringing your own skates is cheaper than hiring. Don’t forgot socks!!
Into the ring
The venue is a purpose built skate hall so the floor is smooth which helped our girls confidence grow minute by minute while they were there. It did take some practice for me to get back into the swing of it though. Why are kids so much braver than us adults! Everybody skates in one direction in a big circle around the hall and as it’s not too big, you can reach the sides easily if you need to.
Parking
The Campus West car park is chargeable before 6pm, but is right next door and is very convenient.
Overall we absolutely loved our first roller disco and the girls absolutely smashed it! If you do have a little one who is practicing, I would definitely recommend taking them for a fun day out here. The staff are really friendly too!
