Hatton Adventure World

Hatton Adventure World is one of those big family days out where you need to arrive early if you want to fit everything in.  Set in 100 acres of countryside they pack in a lot both indoors and out and there’s a great mix of attractions for all ages.

Indoor Soft Play

We started with the soft play, mostly because I wanted a coffee to get me going and then I thought I might never get my boys out!

My three boys made a bee line for the slides and it wasn’t long before I was on them too.  There’s a great three laned wavy slide and a couple of vertical drop slides.

Looping around the slides is the soft play arranged over a couple of levels with tunnels, walkways and rope bridges.  If you’ve got younger kids, they have a dedicated baby soft play and a separate toddler soft play area too.

Outdoor Fun

After dragging my kids out of the soft play, we headed outdoors and there is so much on offer.  We could see a big bouncy slide so that’s where we headed to next.  This is seasonal so I’m guessing for the warmer months. There were little fairground rides here too and you didn’t have to pay extra so lots of goes in the teacups!

It feels like everywhere you turn there’s something different to get stuck into and animal paddocks in between.  I love that the playground areas aren’t just clustered into one area but spread out so even on a bank holiday Monday it didn’t feel too busy in any part.

My kids are a mix of ages so it was great that there was a variety of things to keep them all busy.  We did everything from football goal practise, to panning for gold and milking a cow (not a real one)!

  • Play parks
  • Sandpit
  • Diggers
  • Gold panning
  • Bowling
  • Ride on cars for little ones
  • Big curly slide
  • Trampolines
  • Assault course
  • Nature walk

Meet The Animals at Hatton Adventure World

With over 450 creatures and 60 different breeds, you can meet the animals both outdoors and inside if the weather turns.  Falconry displays take place outdoors and sheep racing too but we totally ran out of time for this, a good excuse to come back again.

We dashed indoors to Guinea Pig Village when the rain came on and my kids loved saying hello and getting a cuddle too.  This area was a lot bigger than I realised when I arrived with the cutest piglets, goats, sheep and then the smaller animals to meet like the guinea pigs and big fluffy rabbits.

There’s a Scales and Tales area too with all sorts of snakes, spiders, reptiles and tortoises.  I think they were as fascinated by us as we were with them.  My boys were also really excited to spot an axolotl.

Laser Combat

Included in our entry was a session of laser combat.  This is for ages 8+ and it was a huge hit with all the members of my family.  When we visited there were two sessions running during the day and you could reserve your spot in advance. My older two kids are 11 and 13 years so this was a winner with them.

We got dressed in camo outfits and put our best tough faces on.  The game is played with infra red lasers from hand held guns.  We had a great time racing around the fields with plenty of places to hide.  Some of us were more strategic than others!
