Where to See the Christmas Lights Switch On in Surrey

Find when all the Christmas lights are being switched on across Surrey in 2023. Many of the events combine with a visit to a Santa’s grotto, food stalls and lots more fun. If you’re after a magical illuminated trail there are some amazing events happening around Surrey and beyond too.
Surrey Christmas Lights Switch On Dates 2023
Thursday 16th November
Kingston Christmas market opens from 16th November and runs all the way through to the end of December. Expect twinkling fairy lights, food and entertainment
Saturday 18th November
Aldershot Christmas Cracker – there’s a stocking-full of festive fun taking place throughout the town centre, with lovely stalls, two stages and street entertainment for all the family!
Cranleigh Christmas lights switch on event features live entertainment ahead of the official switch-on.
Farnham Christmas lights switch on will have free, live entertainment, traditional carols, dancing, Christmas performances, fairground and Santa’s grotto.
Camberley Christmas lights switch on is a free family fun day and a great way to kick start the festive season and they’ll have real reindeer too.
Warlingham Christmas lights will also be a barbecue, mulled wine and cider, entertainment and, the star of the show, Father Christmas in his Grotto. The big Christmas lights switch on will take place at 5pm
Sunday 19th November
Guildford doens’t have an official turning on of the Christmas lights (as far as I can work out) but does have a festive family fun day with lots of free entertainment.
Thursday 23rd November
Oxted Christmas lights will be turned on with the opportunity to meet Santa, Mrs Claus and their naughty elf PLUS guest appearance by Mary Poppins!
Saturday 25th November
Godalming Christmas lights switch on takes place at the Christmas Festival with music and entertainment all day.
Walton Festival of Light – the event will include a Christmas Market, performances from local schools and community groups and the light procession leading to the ‘Town Tree’ switch on!
Saturday 2nd December
Carshalton Frost Fair will be lit with twinkling fairy lights which all helps create a magical atmosphere.
