Roves Farm Spring Lambing Days
6 April - 23 April
The lambing season gets underway again at Roves Farm and it’s our favourite time of year!
Lambing Shed at Roves Farm
Pop along for a fun family day out (my boys love a trip to Roves) and see all their expectant ewes and the new born lambs keeping cosy in the lambing shed.
Wrap up warm and take a seat. With the special viewing platform that looks out across the lambing shed, there will be plenty of opportunities to see lambing in action. Although they cannot guarantee it, there is a good chance you might even be able to see one being born! We did last year when we visited.
There are two flocks at Roves. The first to lamb are the Poll Dorset ewes in January/February. They are very calm and friendly and enjoy all the attention they get at lambing time. Visitors can walk among them and get up close to the lambs. A unique and amazing experience! You may be lucky enough to see a lamb or three being born!
The second flock are the Suffolk cross ewes, who lamb a little later in March. They are more nervous than the Poll Dorset breed so not so easy to make friends with! However, you can still view them and their lambs from the walkway. Visitors can also help with bottle feeding some of the lambs when they are a few weeks old.
Plus, there will be all the usual fun on the farm with activities, indoor & outdoor play, tractor ride (from Feb half term onwards), Toddler Time and meet & feed the animals.
