Open Farm Sunday Berkshire

LEAF Open Farm 2022 is on Sunday, 12th June. An anuual farming open day giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about farming and the countryside, and farmers the chance to talk about what they’re so proud of: British food and farming!
Enjoy meeting the animals, learning about soil health, hunting for bugs, or taking a tractor ride. Each event is unique… and most of them are free!
Here’s some highlights from Berkshire Farms opening their gates this Sunday.
Shiplake Farm

Tractor and trailer rides around the farm to see what we grow and why we grow it. Your guide will explain how we balance food production and taking care of the environment.
There will be a collection for the Unicef at the end of the tour.
Yattendon Estates
Date: 12th June 2022
Time of event: 10am-4pm

Event cost: Free
After a 2 year break we will be opening our farm on the 12th June. We’ll be running tractor and trailer rides around part of the farm and will be displaying all the equipment we use around to produce our crops. You’ll be able to follow the process of how we grow our crops and what they are made into.
We’ll show how we’re working to improve our natural environment and improve biodiversity on the farm.
You can also meet some of our British White cattle and turkey chicks from Walters Turkeys. We’ll also have Rob from Meadow Honey Farm display a working bee hive.
Gates will be open from 10am, Tea/Coffee/Soft drinks will be available all day and with a BBQ from 11.30-2pm
Row Farm

Event cost: Entrance fee applies (£1 per person entrance fee. Charge for certain activities.)
You are welcome to visit our farm to see the animals and hopefully learn some things along the way. You will be able to feed the chickens and have a ride on the tractor and trailer. Lots of other things to be added to the list!
The farm yard is uneven therefore only partly accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Food will be available to purchase and you are welcome to bring your own picnic.
Parking is in a field. Please come prepared for the appropriate weather.
We will have a foot dip at the entrance so you will need proper shoes.
No dogs allowed. No booking necessary. Cash only.
Burrells Farm

Event cost: Free entry, but other charges apply
There will be farm tours to meet the rare breed Suffolk Punch horses and Portland sheep, during which children will have an opportunity to feed the chickens and sheep. This is a good day out for families and you can bring a picnic lunch to eat on the lawn. Tea, coffee, squash and cake will be sold from the house.
Children can plant some seeds in the vegetable garden, do some pond-dipping, go on a nature walk, and there will be other activities, too, such as face painting. Parking will be in the field behind the house and will be sign-posted on the day. There is a toilet but it is down 2 steps so may not be accessible for some people.
