Live February Half Term Events with Norden Farm 2021

Norden Farm always have a fantastic line up of amazing events every school holiday. While we might be in lockdown, this hasn’t stop them one bit and they’re bringing the full variety to inspire kids of all ages.

Magic & Storytelling with Patrick Ashe
Sun 14 Feb 11am and Thur 18 Feb 1.30pm (30 mins) | £6 per household
Enjoy interactive stories online via Zoom – with an added magical twist! Alongside the stories, Patrick will show you how the magic works and teach a trick or two. But because Patrick is in the magic circle you must promise to keep the secrets!
Sunday 14 February: Why the Animals Came to Town
For the trick you will need: A piece of scrap paper that you don’t mind scrunching up into a ball.
Thursday 18 February 1.30pm: Giraffes Can’t Dance
For the trick you will need: A pack of playing cards

Lockdown Town: Family Workshop
Tues 16 and Fri 19 Feb 10.30am – 11.15am | £5 per household
Following on from the successful All Write Together series of online writing workshops during the first lockdown, poet Simon Mole is back! We’re inviting YOU! to take part in workshops to explore your poetry skills – suitable for all abilities. You will be contributing to the writing of a community poem Lockdown Town that we’ve commissioned Simon to write.
This live online workshop will begin with some fun (and quite silly) games before Simon works with the group to generate material for the as yet unfinished (or begun) masterpiece.
Suitable for 5+ years with accompanying adults.
Zen Drawing for Kids – Optical Illusions
Wed 17 Feb 11.30am – 12.15pm | £5 per household
Draw your own mind-bending illusions and 3D trick art. You won’t believe your eyes! The session is led by Amanda Schenk, the visual artist behind Norden Farm’s much-loved (and Instagrammed) glass corridor artwork in the school holidays.
Suitable for ages 10+ years.
Digi Den – Online Taster Session
School Years 5 & 6 | Sat 20 Feb 11.30am – 12.30pm | £5 per household
School Years 7, 8 & 9 | Sat 20 Feb 1pm – 2pm | £5 per household
The digital arts club led by DJ Mhlanga. Explore your creativity and get a taste of various apps and software you can use to tell stories, whether through music making, graphics/animation or writing and editing films in an engaging, open discussion. All you will need is to think of your favourite films, music or animations!

Big Dog, Little Dog: Parent & Child Yoga
Sun 21 Feb, 21 10.30am – 11.15am | £15 per pair (1 adult and 1 child)
A class for parents/carers and their children. Connect and bond through movement and breath. Learn yoga postures, a gentle bedtime yoga sequence, meditations based on popular fairy tales and relaxation techniques. No previous yoga experience needed. You will need one yoga mat (per pair) and one blanket each.
Suitable for ages 4 – 8 years, must be accompanied by an adult.
